Terms of Use

Ground rules for using the FormatShift conversion tools.

Effective date: April 15, 2026

Acceptable use

You may use FormatShift for lawful file conversion. You are responsible for the files you convert and for having the rights to use them. Do not use the service to process illegal content, circumvent DRM, or convert files you do not own or have permission to convert.

Free tier and limits

Free users are subject to a daily conversion limit and a per-file size limit of 2 GB. These limits may change. If you need unlimited conversions, upgrade to FormatShift Pro.

Pro plan

FormatShift Pro is a one-time purchase that removes conversion limits and wait times. Payments are processed by Stripe. Refund requests are handled on a case-by-case basis within 14 days of purchase.

Results and compatibility

Conversions run in your browser using WebAssembly and browser APIs. Output quality depends on your browser, the source file, and codec support. We do not guarantee that every file will convert perfectly. Some formats require modern browser features that may not be available on older devices.

Limitation of liability

FormatShift is provided as-is. We are not liable for data loss, conversion errors, or any damages resulting from use of the service. Always keep backups of your original files.

Service changes and termination

We may change, suspend, or discontinue features, conversion options, pricing, or limits at any time. We may terminate or restrict accounts that violate these terms.
