Quick guidance for plans, browser support, and conversion troubleshooting.
Plans
FormatShift is free to use with a daily conversion limit. Free conversions include a short wait time with ads. FormatShift Pro is a one-time purchase of $19 that removes all limits and wait times permanently.
Supported browsers
FormatShift works best in the latest Chrome, Edge, or Safari. Firefox supports most conversions but may lack some codec support. Video and HEIC conversions require WebAssembly threads, which need a modern browser.
If a conversion fails
Make sure you are using a supported browser. Large files (video, PDF, HEIC) need more memory — try closing other tabs. If a specific conversion consistently fails, try a different source file to rule out file corruption. The maximum file size is 2 GB.
Account and sign-in
Signing in uses a magic link sent to your email — no password needed. If you do not receive the email, check your spam folder. Magic links expire after 15 minutes. Your session stays active for 30 days.
